Johnny Depp and Sir Rod Stewart Team Up for Surprise Gig, Raise Nearly £250,000 for Animal Charity
In a spectacular display of talent and generosity, Hollywood A-lister Johnny Depp and iconic rocker Sir Rod Stewart took to the stage together in London, dazzling an intimate crowd and raising nearly £250,000 for the Celia Hammond’s Animal Trust.
The surprise collaboration saw Depp and Stewart unite to support their friend, 81-year-old former model Celia Hammond, in her tireless efforts to rescue stray cats and kittens. The event, held at the plush Ned Hotel in Bank, featured electrifying performances from both stars, with Depp showcasing his guitar skills and Stewart belting out hits like “Maggi May,” “Forever Young,” and “First Cut is the Deepest.”
The private charity event, kept under wraps until the last moment, was a resounding success, with attendees treated to an unforgettable evening of music and philanthropy. This reunion comes after the duo previously appeared together in memory of legendary rock musician Jeff Beck at the Royal Albert Hall last year.
Expressing his admiration for Hammond’s dedication to animal welfare, Depp stated, “Celia’s devotion and commitment to protecting vulnerable and neglected animals is beyond admirable.” He added, “I’m so glad to be part of the evening’s success, and with the added bonus of playing alongside my friend, Sir Rod Stewart.”
The event also served as a poignant reminder of the friendship between Depp and Beck, with the actor reportedly being the only person permitted to attend Beck’s private burial alongside Beck’s widow Sandra and their dog. Beck’s passing, following a brave battle with meningitis, left a void in the music world, with fellow musicians like Tom Jones, Eric Clapton, Sir Rod Stewart, and Ronnie Wood paying tribute to the legendary guitarist.
Depp and Beck’s musical partnership was described as “musical soulmates,” with the pair collaborating on new music behind the scenes. Reflecting on their collaboration, Depp expressed his gratitude, stating, “It’s an extraordinary honour to play and write music with Jeff, one of the true greats and someone I am now privileged enough to call my brother.”
As the curtain falls on this remarkable evening, Depp, Stewart, and their supporters can take pride in knowing that their efforts have made a tangible difference in the lives of animals in need, thanks to their generous contributions to the Celia Hammond’s Animal Trust.
