Biography of Professor Uji, Wilfred Terlumun

Uji, Wilfred Terlumun is a Nigerian, Tiv by ethnic extraction from Gwer East Local Government of Benue State, Nigeria, in West Africa.

Born on the 10th of December, 1970 to the family of Hon. William Uji and Margaret Uji of Mbahimin, Gbemacha. He attended and completed his Primary School Education at L.G.E.A Primary School Aliade in Benue State, in the year 1979.

He also attended his Secondary education and completed his General Certificate of Education at the Government Secondary School Naka, Gwer West in 1984.

In pursuit of Tertairy Education, Uji, earned a National Certificate in Education at the College of Education Ankpa, Kogi State in 1989. He further enrolled for a Bachelor of Arts ( B.A., Hons. History) and Completed with a Second Class Upper Degree Division at the Benue State University Makurdi in 1997.

Uji further enrolled for a Master of Arts Degree in History at the Benue State University and completed in 2002. In his upward social mobility, he earned a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in History at the University of Abuja, Nigeria in 2009.

In 1997, Uji Started his academic career at the Benue State University as a Graduate Assistant. In 2012, the Federal University of Lafia appointed him as a Senior Lecturer. In 2015, FULAFIA promoted him to the rank of Associate Professor of History in the Department of History and International Studies.

Uji has held several appointments and a remarkable work experience. He was an Examination Officer at Benue State University, 1999 to 2009. The Coordinator of General Studies for History of Scientific Ideas from 2004 to 2006. He was also the pioneer Head of Department of  History at the Federal University, Lafia from 2011 to 2015.

He has served as Member, Senate Bussiness Committee on Examination. 

Between 2016 and 2020, Uji was appointed by the Government of Benue State as the Executive Secretary, Benue State Teaching Service Board. He performed this National Service and has returned back taken his full Professorial chair at the Federal University of Lafia.

Uji has won several academic awards and has been a Member of several Professional bodies. These include, Best Graduating Student in the Department of History and the Faculty of Arts in 1997.

Uji is a prestigious Member of the Historical Society of Nigeria and Associate member of International society for Development and Sustainability.

He is a Scholar with specialization in Conflicts Studies, Migration, Development, Political and Economic History. He has published over forty articles in local, National and International journals, including book chapters, as well as authored multiple books.

Uji, Wilfred Terlumun is married to Mrs. Paulina Uji. The marriage is blessed with Seven Children.

He has travelled far and wide and is rooted in policy formulation, research and documentation.
